Distilled Water (2021)
Distillation system :
Distillation is one of the earliest forms of water treatment, and it is the still the most famous treatment solution for water purification. In ancient times, this technique was used by the Greeks on their ship to convert sea water to drinking water. Now a days distilled water is used to convert sea water to drinking water on ship and in aid parts of world, and to treat water in other areas fouled by natural and unnatural contaminants. Distillation of water is one of the most important procedure for clinical laboratory.
Distillation is not only the most effective form of treatment but it is the to understand. Untreated water is convert into water vapour, and then condensed back to liquid form. Most of the contaminants are left behind in the boiling chamber, with condensed water boiling virtually contaminants free. A person who has accidentally let a pot of water boil completely out of the stove is familiar with this process and with the crust of contaminants typically left behind after the water is gone.
This basic process is responsible for hydrologic cycle in nature. The water vapour eventually comes in contact with cooler air, where it re-condensed to form dew or rain. This process can be Limited artificial and more rapidly than in nature, using alternative source of heating and cooling.
Early distillation equipment was very simple in design: A pot of under drinkable water would be heated over an open flame until it boiled, forming Steam. The steam would then condensed on a cool Surfase suspended above the pot. The condensed water droplet would then run off into a storage container for future use. Alternative sponge use could be suspended above the pot to collect the treated water. While such system were relatively inefficient , it tended to be quite adequate for the limited water treatment needs to the time. photo
The efficiency of the distillation process began to see improvements as distillation was adequate to commercially refine many different liquids such as alcohol, perfume and various solvents. Finally population demands have stained water resources in 20th century to the point where efficiently treating otherwise undrinkable source of water for human consumption in increasing important.
How distillation work :
Several different types of distillation system are available, the system is general choose depending on the required quantity of water. Most households and businesses use independentive effective single stage distilled to provide less than a gallon or up to 100 gallon per day to treated water . More economical efficient commercially distillation unit procedure upto 5000 Gallon per day and use variations in the steam pressure to help treat the water . Converting water into steam requires significant amount of heat .
