Centrifuge

                                               Centrifuge

Definition

The device use  to separate heavier from the  lighter one by  the action of centrifugal force.

The principal component of a centrifuge is the rotor which is the moving part that spins at high speeds.

Rotor can be e fixed in position or a centrifuge can use multiple rotor fixed atop part called the spindle.

Centrifuge

Principle

The centrifuge work on the principle of increasing effective gravity to enhance the the rate of settling of suspended particles more dense than the buffer.

We need to double the force on sample increasing the rotation speed by 41%.

After centrifuging the liquid is called supernatant and the solids at the bottom of 2 are called pellet.

Working on centrifuge

Used to separate substance of different densities that are in a solution.

Liquid portion - supernatant.

Solid portion - sediment ( pellet ).
